Against the Odds: Helping Women Step into Their Shine (Working on Purpose)

Business can be such a force for good in the world. Especially when paired as a social enterprise. The Women's Bean Project in Denver, Colorado hires women with multiple barriers to employment that include histories of substance misuse, former incarceration, histories of domestic violence, and homelessness. This non-profit provides a safe and accepting work environment where women can earn a paycheck while addressing the issues that have prevented them from getting and keeping a job. By doing so, the Women’s Bean Project teaches the women it employs necessary job skills and how to find their footing into mainstream society. But more importantly, the non-profit addresses the women participating in the program's mental, physical, and emotional health. Guest: Tamra Ryan
